I learned to fly on an Ikarus C42 80bhp and have around 32 hours TT.
Now that I've got my license I'm looking at a share and it looks like I'll be starting out with a 1/3 share in an X'Air 582. I've heard loads of good stuff about the aircraft, slow but fun and a good first aircraft.
What I'm not sure about, is transitioning from a 4 stroke C42 to a slower 2 stroke aircraft, will this be difficult? Are there things I should consider and look into to get a better understanding of?
I've just bought a 582 powered Kitfox Mk.III, which is my first 2 stroke. Other than the higher revs than the Lycomings, I couldn't say there's too much difference. Mine has a oil tank and it's automatically mixed with the fuel, so you may have to premix if the X'Air doesn't have this.
My only problem is I suspect the electric starter is buggered, but the engine needs dis-mounting to get at it, so I've learned to hand swing it in the meantime.
